L’ortolan is conveniently situated in the Thames Valley with excellent access to the M4, Reading, Oxford, Heathrow and London.

Attractions in the region include numerous top class golf courses and polo grounds, Windsor Castle, Ascot, Legoland, Virginia Water and the riverside towns of Marlow and Henley. There is regular racing at Windsor and Newbury.

If you are travelling to us by train from London the most direct route is Paddington to Reading.

A taxi from Reading should cost around £10, travel time approximately 15 minutes.

1. At junction 11 of the M4 take the A33 towards Basingstoke.
2. At the first roundabout start following the brown tourist signs for l’ortolan, turn left and go through Three Mile Cross.
3. After the garage on the right turn left at the mini roundabout.
4. Go down country lane for 1 mile.
5. Turn right at the 6 Bells / Hungry Horse pub.
6. L'ortolan is the first drive on the left. 

Road Closures

Please be aware of road improvements and closures that may affect your journey to and from l'ortolan.

• The south end of Church Lane will be closed between 9.30am and 4.30pm due to road works.  Therefore it is advisable for diners to approach l'ortolan from the north end of Church Lane by the Six Bells pub.
• Due to the Junction 11 improvements, guests arriving from the M4 may find their journey a little longer than expected.

Please note that we are closed on a Sunday and Monday but can open on these days by prior arrangement.
