Dine With Alan
Chef Patron Alan Murchison’s popularity with customers is greater than ever following his appearance on BB2’s Great British Menu. We are delighted that for the first time guests will have the opportunity to share a meal with Alan in one of our private dining rooms at l’ortolan.

Alan has worked in Michelin starred restaurants for over 16 years (Alan says he started when he was ten!).
At Inverlochy Castle Alan worked under both Graham Newbould and Simon Haigh and he also worked as Sous Chef to John Burton Race whilst at L'ortolan. Alan then spent over four years at Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons as Raymond Blanc’s Senior Sous Chef before being promoted to Director Ecole de Cuisine.
Alan has been the Chef Patron at L'ortolan since 2001 and Managing Director of Alan Murchison Restaurants Ltd for four years now. In April 2007, Alan bought Claude Bosi's highly acclaimed Hibiscus restaurant in Ludlow and after a comprehensive refurbishment re-opened as La Bécasse in July 2007.
