Alan's Cranachan

“When I was planning my menu for the Great British Menu I went for food I’d like to eat, and that had a good balance of textures and flavours,” explains l'ortolan's Alan Murchison.  But out of his four course televised menu it was his spectacular Cranachan dessert of raspberry Carpaccio and nougatine spheres that really caught the public’s imagination.

"Since doing the programme I’ve been flooded with well-wishers wanting to know more about my food. I have one lady who wanted to visit me so I can show her exactly how to make the Cranachan dessert so that she can really impress at a dinner party she’s throwing.  I think that’s great! I didn’t do the television show to become a celebrity, I just love food, and I want to share that with other passionate people.”
