Champagne Pairing Dinner with Charles Heidsieck
Thursday 5th July 7pm
FOR THOSE WHO LOVE CHAMPAGNE (WHO DOESN’T?), WE ARE DELIGHTED TO HOST A VERY SPECIAL CHAMPAGNE PAIRING DINNER WITH ONE OF THE REGION’S MOST NOTABLE HOUSES, CHARLES HEIDSIECK
Charles Heidsieck is a Champagne Grande Marque named after its founder, who set the company up in 1851, and who was one of the best known and most flamboyant characters of the Champagne industry in the 19th century. Charles Heidsieck is the original "Champagne Charlie”, nickname the Americans gave him after he popularised Champagne in the USA in the mid-19th century. He also invested in the underground Cathedral-like chalk cellars under Rheims, originally dug out by the Romans 2000 years ago and they are still used today to house all of the Charles Heidsieck Champagnes as they age.
The heritage and the continued focus at Charles Heidsieck Champagne is the ongoing pursuit of excellence, sparing no expense, and cutting no corners for quality. The driving force behind this strategy was the inspiring head of winemaking Didier Thibault, who is recognised as the leading light in terms of the development of today’s style, image and quality of the brand.
This event will be hosted by Willem Pinçon who will present each wine from Charles Heidsieck. The evening will start at 7pm with canapés and a glass of Charles Heidsieck taking seats at 7.30pm for a superbly matched menu created by Head Chef Tom Clarke. We look forward to welcoming you to L’Ortolan for this wonderful evening of food and champagne.
